There was Tin mining in Devon as well.  Many of the old mine workings make for interesting runs, biking, orienteering, on Dartmoor, leaving exotic names on the landscape like Golden Dagger, Wheal Franco, Wheal Florence, Virtuous Lady, and Wheal Josiah.
