This is what I have settled on... How does it sound?

1.	Electroplate pads (indicate with an arrow or circle area on board or specify special indentifying feature) with electrodeposited hard gold per ASTM-B-488 Type 1, Grade B, Class 1.25, (or Mil-G-45204 Type 1, Class 1, Grade C), 130 to 220 Knoop Hardness, 1.3um (0.00005 in.) minimum thickness over Electrodeposited Low Stress Nickel base plating per QQ-N-290, 5.0um (0.0002 in. to 0.0003 in.) thickness.

Subject: RE: [DC] Gold plating for card edge contacts or hard gold for repeated contact by spring pins

CONNECTOR FINGERS SHALL BE MINIMUM .000030 23+K HARD GOLD OVER .000150 NICKEL (WHEN APPLICABLE). This is a general notation on our fab drawing...

I don't have my reference books with me, does anyone have a good standard note for Hard gold plating like you use for card edge fingers? I am putting one together for a board that is going to have 'pogo' spring pin contacts repeatedly mate with gold plated pads on the board.

I remember that its about .00005 hard gold thickness over .0002 nickel I think... something like that...

Thanks,
Bill

Subject: [DC] RoHS Fabrication Specification - Revisited

With RoHS2 approaching rapidly and the elimination of exemptions to Category 8 and 9 products I am in the process of reviewing and potentially revamping our PCB Fabrication Specification.

A few questions:
1. Is a reference to Marking Specification J-STD-609A required, or will a simple note requiring the product be clearly identified as RoHS compliant acceptable? Preference?
2. Do you call out specific laminate materials (eg IPC-4101C/126) or is a note referenceing IPC-4101C RoHS compliant material sufficient?
3. Is it necessary to mention "NON-DICY" in the note text, or is that implied by the RoHS requirement mentioned elsewhere within the Fabrication Specification?

Any other thoughts / opnions ?

Thanks,
Dave
