While I agree with Patrick that this stuff works, it is Tetrahydrofuran, a
nasty material and very aggressive. And if you have the possibility of
operators mixing soldering irons with THF, you get some frightening
breakdown products. We used to use these, but got away from it
completely.

Straight toluene or xylene will strip 1B31 pretty effectively and is much
less costly or hazardous than THF, especially if you are doing a few
hundred assemblies. And you have some good recommendations for companies
that will do this for you.

Ioan,

When we need to remove conformal coatings for repairs we use Conformal
Coating Remover from Trace Technologies, we get it from TechSpray in
Amarillo Texas 806-3728523 www.techspray.com
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) can be found online. Very effective
for removing HumiSeal and others.
We have it in 1Qt. Bulk and in 12.5ml pens, great for spot application.

Subject: [TN] Coating stripping facility

Dear Technos,

I'm looking for a facility able to strip 1B31 from a few hundreds of
boards preferably in Eastern Canada or US New England. On or offline
answers appreciated, no sub contractor is a priori disqualified, even if
in CA.

Thanks,
