Gerry,
There are a couple of options, depending on what you are looking for. We
use UV illumination mostly looking for conformal coat residues or
coverage.
Dazor lamps are pretty good and you can get circular black light bulbs for
them. Allows UV illumination and magnification.
There are UV fluorescent lights, usually around the 22 watt level that can
be used for illumination. Most available at a home center (used for plant
growth).
We have found that if you use some of the UV LED flashlights that are on
the market, they allow you a good level of illumination, low power
consumption and you can get very close to what you want to examine. Low
Cost, works well. Here is an example:

Subject: [TN] UV lamps for inspection
Sent by: TechNet <[log in to unmask]>
Hi Technetters, Long time lurker looking for information and
recommendations for a UV wand (or lamp) for occasional use to inspect
surfaces for fluorescent contaminants. My biggest concern is safety, i.e.
user precautions. After that I am looking for advice on the correct
wavelength UV source for general electronic product use such as PCB,
connector, PCBA, and plastic product surfaces. TIA, Gerry
