I can relate to that. I took some of those UV flashlights with me as part
of my conformal coat course last year at IPC. Made the mistake of
examining my hotel room with the black light on and the normal lights off.
Made sleeping kinda difficult after that.

Doug is dead on, UV flashlights (Ebay is a great source), inexpensive
fluorescent bulbs (Lowes, HD), etc. Now a days there are even some LED
mr16
UV bulbs out there.
Or if you are looking for a little nostalgia, take walk into your nearest
Spencer Gifts in the local mall. (I cannot go in there anymore with my
work
clothes on as I look like a CSI crime scene.)

Subject: [TN] UV lamps for inspection
Hi Technetters, Long time lurker looking for information and
recommendations
for a UV wand (or lamp) for occasional use to inspect surfaces for
fluorescent contaminants. My biggest concern is safety, i.e. user
precautions. After that I am looking for advice on the correct wavelength
UV
source for general electronic product use such as PCB, connector, PCBA,
and
plastic product surfaces. TIA, Gerry
