Rich,

From what I have been able to gather:

1. Cleaning under parts is by far the hard part and a brush does zero
there. Good spray action is about all you can do. Your 01005 are pretty
small so that might not be a big issue. You definitely won't have issues
with vias under the parts holding flux. I would worry if rework flux from
your 01005 parts could get around other parts. Again a good spray would help
big time.

2. You can rinse in tap water IF you blow off well. (Other folks disagree
here but they can make their own suggestions.) If you don't have clean air a
rinse in Distilled or DI water will displace tap used during the clean.
(Distilled might be better than DI as distillation removes both ionic and
polar materials. That is my understanding.)

Subject: [TN] Localized Handcleaning of 01005's after rework

Can anyone share their best practices for localized cleaning after 01005
rework?

Do any of you actually use a brush in the cleaning process?

Any details/thoughts would be appreciated.
