Hi Doug,

Had a CCRCO 2000 when I was out in Tulsa, it is a wonderful removal station.

We first got the station when we were asked by a customer to perform an ECO change (we had to remove and replace a bunch of through-hole parts)to about 2,000 boards that had been already built and coated with Urethane coating, which in my opinion ranks up there as one of the most difficult to remove. The CCRCO station did a great job.

You have to be careful with other micro-abrasion stations out there because of the ESD concerns...

Well then, let my nano-particle augmented brain assist.

I actually spelled it wrong. It is CCRCo, LLC. Hal Horrocks, the
President of the company, gave a very good presentation on media removal
at one of the previous SMTA/IPC Cleaning and Coating Conferences. He
indicated then that most military depots are going to media blasting vs.
chemical removal, in order to decrease chemical usage and hazardous waste.

You can contact Hal at [log in to unmask] or 800-443-2726. They also have a
web site at www.ccrco.com.

I plan on getting one of his machines to play with should the Capital
Fairy ever sprinkle Magic Capital Equipment Dust on my request.

Wow,

That's why I'm addicted to TN: quick and priceless answers.

We are users of the Trace pens, but they work too slowly for this
application.

Foam Q-tips, good lead, will try again to push them, as last time around,
the price made them not eligible.

Contacted Crystal Mark for info, waiting for them to answer, but can't
trace CCRD on the Internet. Actually I'm asking myself questions, knowing
the suggestion comes from Doug and the first search result is about
nanoparticles delivering drugs into brain... ;-)

Thanks again,

Dear Technos,

We need to locally strip the acrylic coating (1B31S) from a few
components, on a few thousands of boards. Right now we're using Q-tips to
do the rubbing and, besides having to pluck tons of fibers afterwards,
we're also going through a lot of Q-tips.

So the question is: is there anything else we can use, that will be more
effective, cleaner and more economical?

Thank you,
