180 kV: Now that is fun to work with!
UL: 40V/mil would mean 4.5 inches (114 mm) of spacings, and no sharp corners or bends anywhere! (And don't point at it ;-) )
Luckily there is silicon oil.

William,

I don't know if the IPC lists it, but I can tell you that is a MUST DO for circuit boards that are generating or exposed to high voltages. We use it as standard practice, even for any text that is in copper. We routinely build boards that are running as high as 180 kV (is an oil dielectric).

Regards,

Phil Nutting

Subject: [TN] Grounding Conductive Elements

Hello all - We have been using paragraph 5.2.3.2.1 "Grounding Conductive Elements" from NASA-HDBK-4002A, "MITIGATING IN-SPACE CHARGING EFFECTS - A GUIDELINE" as a guide for our designs. Does anyone know if IPC addresses this issue in any of the design specifications?
