Hi folks - Here is the Friday Element Quiz Answer:

The Question:

This element is essential to life but some its simple compounds are
extremely toxic. This element has at least 2 naturally occurring isotopes.
Planetary processes produce 7 kilograms of this element every year. The
following locations are associated with this element - Sudbury Canada,
Nordlingen, Bavaria and Lappajarvi, Finland. What element is being
described?

The Answer:

The element is Carbon (C)! Carbon forms strong single bonds to itself
allowing for stability that resists chemical attack under ambient
conditions and the formation of long atom chains that comprise the living
cell (such as DNA). Carbon 14 is produced by cosmic rays bombarding
nitrogen in the upper atmosphere producing a trillion trillion atoms which
are incorporated into all living plants allowing for Carbon 14 dating
techniques. Diamonds are formed in the forces generated by meteor impacts
in many locations on the planet. The impact in Yucatan Mexico strewed
diamonds (in the form of dust) all over the planet!

The winner of the weekly element quiz is Brian Ellis and he will get the
services of Clumpy and Kloumpios for the week. The boys were headed for
Brian's house on Saturday after spending the week with Mordechai facility
