Subject: Note for 2013 IPC CID & CID+: No requirement to re-certify every 5 years

Dear Tan Geok Ang,

IPC does not require holders of the CID and CID+ designations to re-certify.

It is up to the individual to decide whether he or she will stay up-to-date with latest editions of these courses.

Demonstrating commitment to excellence with continuing education is attractive to employers - especially important in today's tight economy.

A substantial update of CID course module content is underway now:

students have been participating in beta phase this year, and the "CID2012" designation distinguishes them as conversant on the most current material.

You will see an announcement from IPC when the final version is released in early 2013.

While this 2012 edition will be fine-tuned as changes are made in supporting IPC Standards documents, majority of the material is expected to stand for at least the next 5 years.

In 2013, work will begin on an update of the CID+ module content, with release of that edition planned for mid-2014.  Development of advanced-level modules focused on High-Speed Design and HDI are under consideration.

You can find information about the IPC Designer Certification program at www.ipc.org/designers-council

And feel free to contact me directly!

Yours,

Anne Marie Mulvihill

Subject: [DC] Important Note for 2013 IPC CID & CID+: re-certify every 5 years

Hi All,

Will like to check and confirm that from 2013 onwards all CID & CID+ certified designer will need to be re-certify every 5 years so the question is how about those certified before 2013? Is there a need to re-certify, too?

        Thanks.

Regards

Geok Ang
