Did your customer have any specific concerns he wanted you to address,
arising from some issues he has from cleaning, or does he just think his
products could look cleaner?
You say you are using Ensolv but didn't say how you are using it. Your
mention of vapour cleaning suggests by hand/topical sprays.
For sure you can improve your cleaning if you are applying by hand/spray
cans.
I am not a great fan of solvent cleaning as generally it was never that
effective and now that compliance issues narrow material choices for
formulators, the difference between solvents and aqueous/semi-aqueous
cleaning can be quite marked.

Vapour degreasers do help ensure a consistent process and help get the best
from the cleaning material, but they do not change the basic efficacies.
I am not sure how vapour cleaning can degrade RF components. Perhaps certain
types are effected by the increased process temperatures compared to hand
cleaning which perhaps you are doing now?

Subject: [TN] Cleaning PCB Assemblies

Hi Folks!! Could use some help. We are a contract mfg. using no-clean
solder paste and roll solder
for secondary ops and touch-up. Some of the PCB assemblies contain RF
components and we have
had a customer voice some concerns regarding our cleaning (using EnSolv).
Have heard that new
chemistries with a aqueous washing system have been successful. Have also
heard a vapor degreaser
works well but not the greatest choice with RF components.

Would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!

Regards,
Bill
