No one mentioned the other item I had always heard of....sulfur and
phosphorus contamination in cardboard..it might have been from the days
of China Lake and Jim Raby telling us not to degrade our solderability
by using cardboard....but it has been a long time so my memory might not
be all there.

If your assemblies are not going to have to be soldered anymore, it
might not be important.

FOD would be the only other concern that comes to mind.

It depends. You can get 100% RH in Asia for few days, sufficient to get
cardboard to grow some fungus. How temporary is your definition at what
condition? Storage for 6month is definitely not temporary under 100%
RH. (raining season some places is 3 month).

I missed those kind of replies Dewey!

OK... say we cut corners, what are the effects on sulfur? Our assemblies
are enclosed but, some may have an opening. "Normally" the packaging
should be temporary. But then again sometimes there's nothing more
permanent that something that is temporary. In which case, what is the
"shelf life"? How long before the sulfuring begins?
