Subject: Re: [TN] NTC Friday Element Quiz - the Question

Sorry Doug, Krakatoa was in the Dutch East Indies. That was until some
enterprising but very fat Netherlander threw a ton of TNT into the
crater and that is the origin of the Flying Dutchman legend as the
explosion was a lot worse than he anticipated. He flew by DHL (he'd had
enough of TNT) to Kingdom Come but, en route, he had a malaise as he
flew past Johore and, in honour of the occasion, they named the country
Malaisia; somehow the spelling changed later. His mortal remains landed
in a tin mine further north and the workers thought they had found a
dead Ipohpotamos. They put this curiosity in a fridge to make it Kuala
(Lumpur or like it) and then decided to Penang epistle to Queen Vicky,
telling her of this new species. She asked to have it returned to the
Spectred Isle but as the government of the day was Conservative, the
workers decided to remove the remains of the eruption before crating it.
To clean it up, they removed the body to a Lava-Tory, where it regained
the flush of youth. When she saw the body, the Queen uttered the famous
phrase, "I am not amused!" so it ended up in amuseum. This caused a
diplomatic incident with the Dutch Royal Family which greatly pleased
the inhabitants of the Indies, so they invented a Bali dance called the
Java. While thus gyrating, they banged their feet on the floor, causing
them to Krakatoa!
