P-hil,
long since stepping on the TN stage.
I advise you to read Brian Ellis most competent book about cleaning boards,
Page 201 and 202 ,His book is on neutral ground, is free from hidden
business interests and is adequate from first to last page.I don't dare
send copies, because BE is a rider of defence against illegal copymaking.
Then you should read pages 249-262, MIL-P-28809 about ionic contanimation,
background and practice. Why? Because there are two ditches you can run
into, one being scared by the academic line that will blindly refuse
everything that signalled a few chlorine molecules, or the other ditch
representated by guys who neglect 'a little' halogens as a problem because
they don't know anything in chemistry. Best is to know what actual ionic
level you have and be sure of your customer's requirement. Again, reading
Brian's book, and you'll find answer to your question.

My own comments:
-can't you use alcohol based cleaning? We use that for electronics to our
military laser optcs.
- can't you use a neutralizer?

Inge

PS. If you don't have the book, and you are in a hurry, Brian may give me
a OK to send copies
