Hi!

Kloumpios is relieved that I didn't win because Monday is 'Green or
Clean or Ash Monday', the first day of Orthodox Lent. Traditionally,
Cypriots fly kites and have a salad and octopus/calamari barbecue in the
countryside on Green Monday and he said that he detested sea food. He
demonstrated that by scoffing a large Ttavas (a thick lamb-on-the-bone
stew with peas and other veggies) last night. He asked me not to win the
quiz until the Orthodox Easter (a week later than the Western Easter
this year) was over, as he disliked the fasting, especially the last
week of Lent which is very strict, essentially bread, olive oil and
water). He liked our home-grown oranges, mandeles, grapefruit, mandarins
and pomelos, though, but complained that the lemons were not sweet! He
took a day off to say hello to his family. Clumpy also likes the food
here, especially Souvlaki (charcoal-grilled pork kebabs in a pita bread
with salad and fresh lemon juice) and Keftedes (meat and herb balls).
They woke me up at 05:30 this morning as they had to be at the airport 2
hours before take-off to get the John Deeres through security; I wished
them God Speed and thanked them both for the help in sorting through the
videos.
