Andy's suggestion will do the job nicely as 4130 is a low alloy Cr Mo steel. We use a standard 4% Nitric in Alcohol etch for low alloy steels. You can use either ethyl alcohol or IPA, both work OK and this is known as Nital by us metallurgical types

I haven't played with too many Fe etches but 2 to 5% HNO3 with the remainder ethyl alcohol does ok for low-mid carbon steels.  Let the sample soak in solution for a minute or two.
