Well, I wouldn't want to be sitting behind Dave, either, after a week of drinking beer and eating IPC luncheons!

Doug:
I don't think I would even want you sitting behind me on a flight. Your sense of humor and availability of Mountain Dew equals trouble at 30,000 feet.

Subject: [TN] NTC Friday Element Quiz - the Answer
Sent by: TechNet <[log in to unmask]>
Hi folks - Here is the Friday Element Quiz Answer:
The Question:
This element was made by bombarding bismuth-209 with iron-58 ions in 1982.
The longest lived isotope of this element has a half life of 0.07 seconds.
None of this element's chemistry has ever been researched. What element is
being described?
The Answer:
The element is Meitnerium (Mt)! Meitnerium was named after Austrian physicist Lise Meitner who was the first to suggest that radioactive atoms
could undergo nuclear fission. Mt was first made in 1982 at the Laboratory
for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt Germany. Mt did not get an official name until 1997 due to the controversy with in naming a number of the Transfermium elements.
Selecting the winner of the weekly element quiz was a bit difficult. The Friday Element Quiz Board of Arbitration (FEQBA) had to make a few decisions. Doug Pauls provided the first correct answer but he did it with
an internal notification so FEQBA ruled that he may have done some "insider trading" and thus was disqualified. Graham Collins, L3Com, provided the next correct answer but disqualified himself - FEQBA gave him
points for honesty but not the services of Clumpy and Kloumpios. Per my firewall clock, Alesk Lozinsky, Technics, just beat Brian Ellis for the correct answer although the FEQBA gave Brian points for Unilennium without
getting pulled into the Transfermium element naming issue. Clumpy and Kloumpios wanted to spend one last day at Brian's - something about skeleton's in the video cassettes and one last good meal - and then they'll be off to Alesk's facility in Markham Ontario Canada for the week.
Hope to see folks at APEX and there will be a quiz next week as I'll send it from the APEX conference floor.
