Remember HP's frequency counter, big as a washing machine, inside full of
electron tubes, outside panel filled with Nixie tubes..
How many out there know what Wademecum was? I regreat I didn't save a set.of
them. Sylvania, RCA, Mullard, Valvo, Telefunken, Osram, Philips, Siemens,
name them all..

I'll tell you a true story. Raytheon people, if any, may remember. We had
left electron tubes far behind. A modern nose radar used ICs, transistors,
triacs and all other modern stuff. A MIG hit the ground somewhere and the US
air force got it from a allied for analysis of the technical level,
especially the nose radar. We were invited too. The radar was BIG, technical
expertize marvelled. The equipment was taken out and was dismantled. All of
them just stared and stared again. They hoped to see the newest of Sovjet's
technology, but this nose radar was full of electron tubes. Mini tubes.
Hundreds! Not a single micro circuit. Guess why...
Inge
