Perhaps Graham, if you can provide the document to Steve Gregory to post,
or post it on the Gen3 web site, it would be a convenient place for many
to get the document you reference.

Re: [TN] Expired Solder Paste

Hi Juliano and fellow Techies,

It might be useful to you to consider using a relatively new Process
Control Standard available from SMART Group (www.smartgroup.org) entitled:
Control of Solder Paste used in Electronic Assembly Process
This was developed from the IPC-J-STD005 solder paste test methods, but
adapted for use by folks using paste as opposed to the manufacturer.

The Scope states:
This Standard is intended to determine the suitability of solder paste
prior to its employment on the production line; reduce process defects and
minimise rework.
The tests are, by necessity, fast and simple to perform; with commercially
available equipment and may be completed in less than 1 hour.
A list of defects, test methods and the time/cost implications are shown

If anyone would like a copy they could contact SMART Group or let me know
and I can forward a copy.
