first discovered in California in 1955. What element is being described?
The Answer:
The element is Mendelevium (Md)! Mendelevium was discovered in 1955 using
the Berkeley 60 inch cyclotron. A grand total of 17 atoms of Md were
produced by bombarding einsteinium-253 with helium ions. In later
experiments, thousands of Md atoms were produced allowing for an
estimation of Md's melting point - about 827C.
The winner of the weekly element quiz is Graham Collins, L3

week. The boys fired up the John Deere's and took off for Graham's
facility. They also put ski attachments on the tractors - they mumbled
