The first version of the ‘ChipCheck Inspection of Counterfeit Components Guide CD-ROM’ is available free to download from SMART Group. This interactive training guide provides an overview of the problem, corrective action and methods of test.

For details on how to download your copy go to <http://www.smartgroup.org/chipcheck>

This CD-ROM is provided as part of the delieverables from an EU funded project known as Chipcheck.

Details of the project can be found at: <http://www.chipcheck.eu/home/>

The project is managed in the UK by TWI, supported by funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme managed by REA-Research Executive Agency (FP7-SME-2008-2) under EU Grant Agreement: 262212

See: < http://ec.europa.eu/research/rea >

The plan is to publish further versions of the guide as the project progresses with information on the project equipment developments and further guidance on dealing with counterfeit components in the industry. SMART Group has been running technical workshops and webinars on the practical issues caused by counterfeit elctronic components and is very excited to be part of the multi-company activity involved with this project.

Further information on the SMART Group can be obtained by visiting < http://www.smartgroup.org >
