Keith,
I agree with Sala. Many people think when they see flux fumes that it
contains lead fumes. This is not true. The vapor pressure of lead at
typical SMT solder temperatures, leaded or lead free, are so low that you
will not ever detect lead in the space above the molten solder.

There is a tiny, tiny chance that a microscopic solder ball from solder
splatter could make it up to the top surface of the inside or the reflow
oven but the chances of it coming loose and landing on your circuit pack are
next to zero. And, as Sala said, if you do regular oven maintenance then the
chances are even less.

Whole different story for a wave solder machine for a number of reasons,
which I won't go into them here, unless someone asks.

Subject: [TN] Oven contamination

We were recently asked a question by one of our customers that I didn't
have an answer to.
Does the use of a common reflow oven for leaded and RoHs products result
in any cross contamination of these products.
On first glance I would have just said no, that isn't an issue, but I
want to know if anyone else has ever looked into this in any detail.

Thanks for all the support;
