Scott:  A LONG time ago, we tried out a new cleaner/ (I may be inventing a new word here) nano-etch. It removed a SMALL amount of metal (~5 microinches), at a HASL service business, and they loved it, as they reported it gave them flatter, more uniform solder.

I have a customer asking if we can meet average surface of 0.1,0.2 or 0.4 with a HASL finish. We are considering using annealed copper to start with but with HASL finish is that neccessary. The pad is for a LED.
