Hi Gregg,

The preferred conformal coating material we use at NASA GSFC is Arathane 5750 A/B. Paraxylene is used on occasion but needs to be applied by vacuum deposition. Paraxylene provides a thinner, more uniform coverage than Arathane but is very difficult to remove if part replacement, rework, or repair is needed.

Subject: [TN] Spaceflight (NASA) Approved CC

Dear TechNetters:

I have returned to SpaceX and have been posed a question which some of you should have quick answers for (obviously not a Doug "It depends" question).

What are the NASA approved conformal coatings for spaceflight? I was hoping to find a list in the NASA-STDs but didn't find a list. Replies are most appreciated.

Thanks,

Gregg Owens
