Richard,

Your latest post is most impressive in terms of the degree to which your company takes process control.
My question is, is it paying off?? I'm assuming that visual inspection has ceased due to a total lack of defects,
in which case, the effort has resulted not only in higher yields (100%!!), but lower costs, higher reliability,
no in-house test failures related to production issues, reduced field returns, no production schedule issues,
 reduced engineering floor support....
Or did all of the controls end up being window dressing?!
I ask, as an advocate of the "proper design, proper materials and process, effective training and discipline" -
equals the lowest cost, highest quality.
Have you actually done it, or was my management right, that rework will always be an inherent part of the process.

I assume that DPMO is meaningless in your shop, perhaps DPBO or DPTO numbers are available??
