We've been building tens of thousands of ENiG boards per year since our RoHS conversion - no problems. At least related to ENiG. The assembly vendors have tried numerous times to blame their soldering on the ENiG, but each time the finish has proven to be fine. Good vendors make good boards, no matter the finish. The problem with ENiG is there's far less margin for error. So if purchasing insists on fab vendors based on cost only, regardless of what the rest of the committee wants, after all those martinis you still have to specify something other than ENiG.

Like Phil says, it woudl be nice to have all that expert input on the decision, but in my company, not a chance.

And back to the original question - if the vendor was not doing ENiG in house, and is just getting around to LFHASL, I'd steer away from letting them build my boards in ENiG.
