IPC/JEDEC joint standard 609 contains information for marking both components and circuit boards to help the rework person understand what they are dealing with. The 609 has been ammended at least once since passage around 2005.

Subject: [TN] standard industry silkscreened symbology for Pb-free assembly

All,

Looking for some guidance on what symbology should be stenciled onto
b-free circuit boards to inform the user/rework person that they are
b-free boards. Some of our products are SnPb and some are Pb-free.
t would be helpful to have a Pb-free symbol stenciled onto each Pb-free
oard. thx

Best Regards,
-Joe
