Sorry, Inge, cannot agree with you on both scores. SnCl2 is soluble in 
light alcohols and ketones but insoluble in cyclic solvents. It can 
hydrate in water to a dihydrate which is almost insoluble in water at 
±pH7 but becomes increasingly soluble at lower pH values and more so at 
higher pH values (hence saponifier solutions). It is slightly ionic, 
therefore potentially dangerous. I don't know about its hygroscopicity 
in its two forms under conformal coating, but I would not instinctively 
want it there.
