My list for these guys is extensive, so I certainly hoped they rested up over the weekend.
They'll be doing mostly new model qualifications and updating supporting documentation. They'll be strain gaging, performing cross sections, and verifying a new selective soldering process.
They'll also be assisting with the development of a plant-wide countermeasure effectiveness auditing program, and then investigating ways to improve the reporting of performance metrics to senior management. We're looking at a minimum of 10 hour days, depending upon how fast their short little legs can move.
They may have wished they'd scheduled vacation for this week!

The Question:
This element plays a critical role in neutron radiography. This element is sometimes used to support rare earth phosphors that luminesce because it will not "quench" their intense colors. What element is being described?
The Answer:
The element is Gadolinium (Gd)! A screen of Gd is used to trap the neutrons in neutron radiography allowing an image to be produced. Gd is the odd rare earth element as it does not absorb light in the visible spectrum making it "colorless". Other rare earth elements have vivid colors. Gadolinium is used in magnetic data storage discs and is used to regulate neutron activity in reactor cores.
