Hi,
I like seeing the X Outs on the panels as it gives me an idea of the
quality of the fab process.
If I were to receive an order where many panels had several X Outs I would
reject the entire lot.

Simply a question of yield and expense. If the board fab can make panels
with zero errors, and you are willing to pay for them, then go with no
X-outs. Keep in mind that if you are going to use waste as a parameter in
this tradeoff that the board fab will be tossing out whole panels rather
than have you waste solder on a couple of ups.

Subject: [TN] X-Out Policy
These is a debate currently raging on internally on whether or not to allow
X-outs on panelized assemblies. I am of the opinion to not allow any X-outs
as this entails manual intervention on the line to not populate that
particular board (we have not programmed any bad board sense into our
programs), and to a lesser extent, leads to solderpaste wastage.
Furthermore, to me, accepting X-outs means accepting a more variable (if not
a out of control) process at the board house. However, I want to to hear to
any opinions otherwise if any
What is the industry doing as a whole regarding X-outs?
Thanks,
Amol
