Amol mentions the issue with gridlock lifting the stencil. If you have purchased the option to have the pins lift in Manual Mode or Auto Mode you can do the following.

Depending on your stencil printer this may work for you. I made a metal plate out of aluminum with handles.

Ø During setup you load the board into the print area.

Ø Place the plate over the board.

Ø Allow the gridlock to activate.

Ø Lock pins into place put in manual mode so they don't reset.

Ø Remove plate.

Ø This will prevent the board from warping upwards and stop the stencil from lifting. I had a Dek printer and it work perfectly.

I hope this helps.

Scott

Not paste, but common air contaminants like dust etc., over years of use (over 5 years). This prevents all the pins from deploying as they get stuck fully or partially leading to dead spots on the boards. Furthermore, if one increases the air pressure to make them come all the way up and if the board is smaller than the length of the gridlock then the pins hit the stencil causing a standoff

I wasn't aware they had to be refurbed. What did Gridlock tell you

directly? Are you getting paste into the pin channels?

Subject: [TN] gridlock cleaning service

Dear Technetters,

Anybody out there using the gridlock tooling under the DEK printers? Who

do you send them out to, for cleaning/refurbishing and what is the

cost/unit? I am being quoted a rate that I think is too steep by the DEK

authorized service center and wanted to know if there are other people

out there who do the cleaning/refurbishing as well.

Thanks,

Amol
