Subject: [TN] Sn60/Pb40 RoHS???????????

This morning, the other half forced me into a supermarket run by a
German heavy discounter whose name is four letters with the first and
last one being the same.

To my astonishment, I found reels of solder wire with F-SW32 flux core
there, clearly labelled "Electronic solder". Guess what? It was
Sn60Pb40! They can't even claim it was old stock, because the store was
opened only a few months ago, the first on the island.

The solder was made in Wuppertal, Germany, noted for its monorail public
transport system, and was bright, not visibly oxidised, so I presume
reasonably freshly made.

As such solder is sold specifically as a component for electronics
assembly, is L*** on the wrong side of the RoHS Directive? If not, are
they liable if someone uses it to make an item of equipment for sale?

Brian
