1. Did you notice that they never mentioned anything about the fact that the Hitachi made accelerator CCA doesn't conform to class III, high reliability electronics.

2. There is no mention as to what class automotive electronics needs to conform to. I would think since people's lives are just as at risk as medical products that IPC-A-610 class III should be law.

3.  Remember the cross section picture that we all saw last year from someone on tech-net?

That picture was not in the report nor was it even mentioned. The space between leads was drastically reduced with that poor reflow. No wonder dendrites grew.

4. With the report concluded how come the findings aren't carried in the news media.

 Anyone smell cover-up?

Subject: Re: [TN] New report finds tin whiskers to blame in Toyota UA

There were a lot of people that found the original report quizzical.  But to be fair, SRS does have their own prejudice in the matter.  Which means the truth lies somewhere in between.  But either way, the fact that they found so many whiskers in an acceleration control of an automobile leads to a scary "what else" question  that should have been raised even from the NASA and NHTSA reports.  Thanks to SRS for keeping on this!
