Subject: Re: [TN] New report finds tin whiskers - blame in Toyota, footwear correlation not investigated

Report concluded exacltly with what I said they'd find last year. In addition they found four programming problems. They also haven't made the connection with the 40% of the accidents related to when people are parking to people wearing illegal footwear, clogs and sandles with no heel strap that allows the person to press on the brake but the rear of the sandle or clog is pressing on the longer and more sensitive gas pedal at the same time!

The driver's ed manual in the 60's states shoes are required by law. If you have an accident and it is noted that you  weren't wearing shoes then you can be cited for driving to endanger and face criminal negligence.

A shoe is defined as footwear that has toe and heel support.

Clogs, high heels with no heel support, flip-flops and sandals of the type with no heel strap; are not shoes.

An accident while wearing this type foot wear can land you in jail because you don't have control of your car and therefore driving to endanger.

I've written to three police commissioners inquiring why the police are not collecting the data and not seeing the correlation to the increase in people driving into buildings and others with the increase of people driving without shoes. I see the elderly driving with the soft clog type house slippers as well.

Isn't it interesting that this data point is missing?

A new report is blasting the NASA and NHTSA reports on unintended
acceleration in Toyota vehicles, and specifically says tin whiskers is
among the culprits.
