I'm not sure what your searching for but I'll share something about DI water and very thin or poor plating on products like the EMI shielding on certain connectors like for RJ45's. The shiny surface turned grayish or had water stain effects after cleaning in DI water.

The DI water wasn't the problem and the appearance was was strickly cosmetic however poor plating and a picky customer may have you polishing connectors.

I've only seen this happen a couple times over many years at a couple different companies, so I'm pretty sure our vendor engineers worked the issue with the vendors because the issue disappeared the next time we ran.

Subject: [TechNet] DI water and plating

Good morning all.  I have a general question for those of you who deal
with electroplating.  How critical is the resistivity of the water to the
plating process?  I am not talking about impurities in the water, only the
resistivity of it?
