1. What size panel does your PCB fabricator run? There is software that will
optimize your yield.
2. How is the assembly de-paneled? There may be an .092" or more between
PCBs. V-score has less waste but clearance from the score is required.
3. An 18x5 may print but a 20 x4.5 may not. Can your handling equipment,
magazines, conveyors work with a 18" long PCA? Placement machines may have a
problem reaching all the locations, additional feeders may be required to
have the head reach all the points. Some machines have a large placement
rate drops due to the panel configuration.
4. Test OK with this size?


As usual what makes sense is dependent on your suppliers, current equipment
set and volumes.
