Shawn,

As with most things "It Depends" (I guess I owe Doug a Diet Dew). If the end use of the assembly can stand the edges left by the V-score we will use that. This is our preferred method.

We have one assembly that has no rails. All of the SMT parts were kept back from the edges and we were able to get our customer to put tooling holes in this board so it could run on the PnP line. This method gave the customer nice clean edges like they wanted and still allowed us to easily run it on the PnP line.

Subject: [TN] Large/Thick boards and PnP

How are 0.125" PCB's done on PnP? We have a 0.125" board, forget the
dimensions but it's probably 10"x18". For the application I suspect
we'd very much prefer the nice milled edges on the PCB edges-rather than
a V-score or worse, mouse-bitten edges-but as I think about it, I'm not
sure how these thicker boards are handled even for smaller boards.
Would the normal case be, for thick boards, for the boards to be mill
route separated; and then some sort of jig/framework used so that the
board can go down a PnP setup?
