Like others here, I met Werner once at one of his reliability seminars several years ago, and he answered my question in the seminar and follow-ups thereafter with great patience, also.  I didn't fully understand one of his answers, and he was kind enough to find a whiteboard nearby and gave me a brief education on varieties of copper-tin intermetallics.

Honestly, he struck me as more interested in sharing knowledge and seeing it used properly (perhaps that most of all) than any personal fame or fortune.  I think that's very much to his credit.
