There are several companies that can print a solderable pad to the PCB with
traces allowing the placement and soldering of the addtional components in
the normal assembly process.
Far more reliable than hand soldering wires to a chip component.
I have used this on communication equipment and high speed computors.

It is easier to do this task with a through hole component. The PTH
component has leads to solder to without cracking the ceramic body. There is
more room to glue the body down.
