It is sad that one measure of a person's worth can only be seen when they are gone, and people gather to stand up and say "I will miss them".  By this measure, Werner was a giant among us.  

My interactions with Werner were few, but in them he was insightful while being humble, and listening.  Where others of his knowledge and stature might be arrogant he was the opposite, treating me as equal and being interested in what I thought.  

He will be missed.

I received the msg below this morning.
Jack

This is Peter, Werner's son.  It is with great sadness, I am letting you know my father passed away on 4/15/2011. He was known as "Mr. Reliability" in his industry. This aptly described his personal life too.  A better husband, father, and Opa could not exist.  He was a Renaissance man and he didn't let us down in his final hours. He passed in Aqaba, Jordan scuba diving.  He lived life to the fullest and was a great example to all.  Dad will be missed.

If you know of anyone who knew Werner please feel free to pass this on.

My mother, Osie; sister, Heide; and I all thank you for your friendship with my father.

May he rest in peace,
