Does UL require that a PWB vendor inscribe their logo on the bare copper
image. This is what I grew up with and am confused now as I see PWB
vendor inscribe their logo with white silk screen.

Manufacturing a bare PCB (as we do) with our UL approved and audited
processes allows us to put "our" UL logo on the PCB making it a UL
compliant PCB. We are restricted as to what specific processes or types
of PCB's we are UL approved for and each type or process requires us to
apply for UL approval if we want to certify it.

Subject: [TN] UL and Bare Board Fabrication

Greetings,

We are reviewing our bare board procurement document and Fab Notes, and
I'm stuck on the part about UL. Reviewing notes from other sources I
don't see any mention of UL, but I know fabricators have some kind of UL
approval process (and the 94-Vx rating) and a UL registered logo? (I
don't know).

My question is, is the UL involvement primarily for the flammability of
the MATERIALS they use, or is there more to the story?

More to the point, Is there any reason to specify UL on a fabrication
drawing (or in a general requirement?)

thanks,
Jack
