OK, lots of ideas to look at. And maybe I can clear up my explanation a bit.
The performance levels are different on different channels, and different on
each board. Some have 3 good channels, some just one, but there is no
consistency at all. It was a small run of about 8"x11" boards so they may
have pressed them at final size.
We have built these boards before, same artwork, same specifications,
different fab and assembly vendors, with 100% success. (yes, I know the
obvious answer, the project manager is slower to realize it)
There is a good chance these boards went through multiple reflows and
rework. I'm trying to get some answers now about how they were booked and
pressed, reflowed, etc. I passed all the replies on to the RF guy so he can
use the ideas.
