Some of them are elegant and simple, the others are monsters and complicated (1week training is not enough, need 3 stages. Now which engineering dept is allow everybody to take 1 wk un-devided attention? Start up come in to mind). Too bad, the elegant is hard to get (simple, yes. Some of them so simple you need additional programmer on site to expand).

Dave,
I think the original post was going from paper to electronic & man is that going to be a culture shock.
But in all honesty I see too many companies going from existing to a new system and across the board
try to make the new one like the old instead of really looking at what the new system can truly offer.
Because yes in short term getting everyone on board to change is difficult.
But if a new system can make life easier in the long run by using it the way it
Was intended rather than trying very hard to make it like what was, I think overall this will be better.
Just my thoughts.
Bob

Inge and Robert,

My earlier post focused on implementation of the tools of a PLM system, you
both point out possibly the biggest hurdle - getting the end users to buy in
to changing the way they work once the system is in place.

The real benefit of PLM is having the complete history, configuration, and
supporting data of all company products immediately available and accessible
to each end user. Proper PLM processes and training must be provided to
users to help them leverage the systems value. Initially this results in
users accepting more responsibility for their job functions, but with some
commitment significant productivity gains will be realized.

Dave
