Subject: Re: Impedance calculator between nets

Gobi,

Keep in mind that the primary purpose of ICT is to verify assembly, not
performance. So while it is possible to test a chain of nets as a group,
it is less effective for the purpose of the test. For example, test points
on either end of a chain of 6 components electrically connected could
tell you that one of those components has an open connection, but it
would not tell you which component is open. If you were able to add
test points on each connecting net, the ICT results would pin point
exactly which component failed. Sometimes, space constraints require
this less effective method.

What you are describing is more of a functional test, to be performed
after it has been determined that the assembly is correct. Functinal
testing does not require testing each component, instead testing the
result of the circuit.

Pete
