Last Friday, I enjoyed a plant tour (with the OSU Solar Car team) at SolarWorld. There was a lot of neat stuff going on at the plant, from the growing and slicing of the Silicon, to the automated laminating of the strings of cells. There are some pictures and general information about panel assembly on their website at:

Subject: [TN] Solar panel assembly
Dear Technos,
Is anybody currently assembling solar panels? What would be the specifics of the task? Anything particular, different from regular box build (electronics assembly, cables plus mechanical)? Any particular knowledge or machinery to acquire?
Thanks,
Ioan Tempea, ing.
