Inge,

The manual states to use a long wire on the lower bands the receiver covers 
and a dipole on the four higher bands. A dipole that is resonant on 7 MHz will 
also work fairly well on 14 MHz, 21 MHz, 28 MHz, etc. I'd be partial to following 
their recommendations. 

And with the sun getting more active, there will be more stations heard from 
further away due to the increased ionization of the upper atmosphere. 

I may have the clean the dust off my radio (and straighten up my workshop, 
yours puts it to shame) and see what I can hear as well. Heck, I might even 
plug in the microphone and see if anybody can hear me.
