I agree - only link to someone you know or who reponds with a valid rationale 
for linking to them. Could be a spammer or identify thief looking for info. 

I'm on LinkedIn and Facebook. I don't get many unknown requests on 
LinkedIn, but do on Facebook. If they get your name, date of birth, 
hometown, schools attended, etc. they can try to hack into your online 
accounts.
