My guess is that the step prior to DI is a water softening step and the 
salt is coming from there.

[TN] Misting units






TechNetters,
I have another different but related misting unit concern.  The water that 
is supposed to be coming through the misters in my lab is supposed to be 
DI water, but we are finding, over time, a thin layer of NaCl on equipment 
situated below the mister and trailing off the farther away one gets. We 
have definitively IDed the NaCl and we have also used a bottle on a stick 
to capture the spray from the mister and found NaCl.  We are in the 
process of tracing back the water source to try and find the point of 
contamination. Has anyone else ever had this problem?
