Dunno about the Alpha product but the Lonco one was essentially a
mixture of polyglycols, largely triethylene glycol, IIRC!

Ho! Hi Brian

So far as I remember Alpha water sol oil (4040?) at the time was a simple
re-label of a 100% industrial detergent. Not Teepol but similar.
It was very good to sneak out and put it in someone's wind screen wash
bottle. Possible in the days before present car security systems. It would
pump out and then make a sort of worm cast on the screen!

HNY

Regards

Mike

Water-soluble soldering oils at 5% solution can act similarly! I
remember a PCB manufacturer client who had just switched to one, umpteen
years ago, for tin-lead plating reflow, and they had a complaint from
the local sewage works, about 1 km away. Foam was coming out of an
egg-section sewer in an almost rigid extrusion! They sent two men with
breathing apparatus up the sewer to find out where the hell it was
coming from!
