Hi folks - here is the Friday Element Quiz Answer:

The Question:

This element has a half life of approximately 24,100 years. This element
has decreased electrical resistivity as the metal is warmed up. This
element is one of the most toxic materials known - in terms of radiation
and chemically. Inhalation of 100 mg of fine element dust will cause death

in a few days. There is no commercial market for this element. What
element is this?

Bonus Question: Name the Roman mythology connection of this element.

The Answer:

The element is Plutonium - Pu. Plutonium is unique in the elements as it
can have 6 crystal structures (allotropism) depending on the temperature.
Pu has the lowest thermal conductivity of all the metals. PuO2 has been
used as a heat source in thermoelectric power supplies for the Voyager,
Galileo and Cassini spacecraft.

The answer to the bonus question: Pluto was the Roman mythological god of
hell.

The winner of the week's quiz was David Bealer, Watchfire Signs and will
get to put Clumpy to work for a week. The last known location of Clumpy
was Steve Gregory's shop so we'll try to get him moving along.

So far Clumpy has:

Week 1 Lamar Young, SCS Coatings
- accomplished nothing (drank lots of coffee)

Week 2 Bev Christian, RIM
- conducted REACH material testing

Week 3 Drew Meyer, Benchmark Electronics Inc.
- Solderability testing and mowed the lawn

Week 4 Ian Fox, Goodrich
- had an epic journey of travel

Week 4 Gary Ferrari, Garrick Global
- ???? Gary owes us a description

Week 5 Fredrick Miller, Astrolab
- ???? Fredrick owes us a description

Week 6 David Nelson, Raytheon
- Was a tackling dummy for Dallas Cowboys

Week 7 Graham Collins, L3 Communications
- Cleaned gutters and painted window trim

Week 8 Bill Noel, ITT Geospatial Systems Division
- ???? Bill owes us a description

Week 9 Steve Gregory of RD Circuits
- ???? Steve owes us a description

Week 10 David Bealer of Watchfire Signs
- ???? David owes us a description
